Introducing SOPPA

Dear Students & Families, 

Illinois has introduced a new law to help protect our students from online predators. It is commonly known as SOPPA (the Student Online Protection Act).  This new law means new changes to how things are presented to students. 

To break it down, all sites that collect any information from a student (including things as simple as a first name) are required to have a legal agreement on file with the school district in order for students to have access to these sites. This is for both paid and free websites. 

This means that many things that we may have been able to use in the past, we will not be able to use in the future including this website. I will still have my teacher blog available and will be leaving up the pages I have set currently but I will no longer be updating this site or recommending it to students for use.  As many use this as a reference site, I will continue to maintain it for that purpose.
